Hometown: My childhood was spent in Pittsburgh, PA before calling home to such diverse places as, California, Ohio, Colombia, South America and Spain. But now I’m a Bostonian having thrived in the Boston area and resided in Jamaica Plain for over 20 years.
I live with: My sweetheart, Ed Dugger III, who is kind, respectful, smart, handsome and who lightens my heart.
Tell us about the work you do. I am a professional REALTOR® who helps people buy, sell or invest in the home or property of their dreams. I do so by understanding my clients’ needs, educating them about the real estate market and the overall process, while making the experience enjoyable. Hand-holding is my specialty and I take special pleasure in satisfying my clients with a ‘high level” of customer service. There are many Realtors out there, but I pride myself in standing out from the competition by going the extra mile for my client. I have their back.
How did you wind up here? My journey to becoming a real estate specialist begin as a young woman with a series of sales positions in such male dominated businesses in corporate America. Despite the difficulties I faced — and there were many — I found I had a talent for sales and was gradually given the opportunity to excel. These opportunities led to several sales awards and sales executive positions over a 25-year career, sharpening my skills and network along the way. However, there came a point about eight years ago that I had had enough of large corporate environments, politics and inequities. So, I determined to be more entrepreneurial while pursuing latent interests in design and real estate. That is when I transferred my corporate sales skills to the world of real estate and have never looked back.
What did you want to be when you were a little kid? How does that play into the work you do now? I dreamt of being a dancer/actress, but I was dissuaded from doing so. I still love the idea of acting so movies and the arts are a passion of mine. So now, when I am either at work or play my desires are reflected in the grace and poise needed to diffuse complicated situations.
What problems do you solve for your clients? Ultimately, I want to bring value to my clients. I do so by sharing knowledge about the real estate market, providing solutions to big or small problems that help them seamlessly overcome obstacles in the real estate process. Plus, I’m a strong negotiator. For example, I help couples gain clarity on what’s next in their life by exploring their big “why” — what goals they want to achieve if they are buying or selling a home. Key to the value I bring to my clients is a keen focus on listening; really understanding their needs so I can best interpret how to bring the right resources together to address them. That might be recommending a loan officer, a real estate attorney, a stager, an organizer, a mover or other professionals. My ultimate goal is for my clients to be thrilled by the end of the transaction.
Tell us the best part of what you do. I see myself serving as a bridge to the next chapter in the lives of individuals and families. And as such, I share in the joy that they feel when the final paperwork is signed. That by far is the best part of what I do.
What’s your personal motto or mantra? “Never give up” and “Take it one day at a time.”
Who’s your role model? The young woman, Malala Yousafzai, recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace, who was almost killed by the Taliban when she was 15 speaking up for young girls in Pakistan and their right to have an education.
Where’s your favorite place to relax? Martha’s Vineyard. I love its easy, laid back vibe, unusual diversity and beautiful scenery.
Tell us a favorite accomplishment. Several years ago, on a milestone birthday, I wanted to do something challenging, edgy and definitely memorable. So, I went skydiving on a beautiful fall day in October. My free-fall was totally exciting, the landing was easy, and the memory is forever.
